Less talk, more action is the message from Katter’s Australian Party this week. For years Queensland and the North have been made empty promises by the major parties.
This week, for the third year in a row they have promised to deliver on some major water schemes. Bob Katter named three schemes that are ready to go – Hughenden Scheme (HIPCO), North Johnstone Transfer and Charters Towers’ (Big Rocks) Weir. He said,
“they are ‘shovel ready’ and can commence tomorrow”.
These schemes have been researched in depth and have been found to be viable solutions to North Queensland’s water issue, whilst creating jobs, revenue and protecting our agriculture industry from certain ruin. The question is, why the delay?
At a State level, Robbie Katter has also this week pointed out that the LNP have ‘ideas’ and ‘suggestions’ on the major issues effecting North Queensland such as the region’s water shortage, however they have not presented any real solutions to these issues. Katter’s Australian Party have put forward the Hells Gate Dam project – which has already been proven both viable and profitable after multiple completed studies, however Liberal leader Deb Frecklington said they would ‘consider’ the project. Again, why the delay?
Australians are tired of being made the same promises election after election and never seeing the results. Governments, both at State and Federal level are too busy playing petty games instead of getting on with the job – that they were elected to do.
Katter’s Australian Party doesn’t just have ‘ideas’, we have viable solutions that can solve these major issues. We don’t have time to play party games, we get on with the job at hand and will continue to fight the good fight.
In the words of Bob Katter himself, “I ain’t spendin’ any time on it!”
