Application form in the Mail – Scott Stewart supports KAP title deeds on Palm

August 15, 2024

The Katter’s Australian Party (KAP) Leader, Robbie Katter has today mailed an application form for KAP membership to the current Townsville member of parliament, after grainy footage emerged from Palm Island of him supporting the long standing KAP policy of title deeds for First Australian home ownership.

“My father first successfully introduced legislation into the Queensland parliament in the 1980s to enable First Australians to own their own home.  Despite it being wound back some time later, the KAP has been fervent in our efforts to make this a reality for all Queensland First Australians ever since,” the KAP Leader said.

“In 2012, Dad used the Federal Parliament, and in 2022 I launched the KAP’s policy for real title deed overhaul.

“I’m glad to see Scott Stewart has decided to acknowledge that our long fought for policy is worthy of adoption.  I celebrate this, along with those on Palm, including Mayor Lacey who has been a passionate advocate for home ownership in his community.

“This exemplifies how North Queensland ideas can be successfully formed into policy that the Brisbane masters of the so-called ‘local’ members of parliament simply cannot ignore.

“The Brisbane HQ have finally seen that title deeds are a key issue for Palm and have instructed their MP to make an announcement.

“I can’t wait to walk into the new Parliament with Margie Ryder, a passionate, real North Queenslander, as the new member for Townsville, to vote in favour of legislation that will bring this KAP policy into reality for all Queensland First Australians, not just those on Palm,” the KAP Leader said.

“It’s curious that facing their impending political doom after nine years, the Brisbane based party is getting on board with our policy,” Mr Katter said.
