Dametto Praises Ingham Sugar City Rodeo Success

September 9, 2025

Hinchinbrook MP and Katter’s Australian Party (KAP) Deputy Leader Nick Dametto has commended the Ingham Sugar City Rodeo Committee on delivering another successful event on Saturday, 2 September 2025.

Mr Dametto, who rode in the Charity Bull Ride alongside former Cowboys player and current team manager Glenn Hall, said that the rodeo was very strongly supported by just over 1,500 spectators and participants throughout the day and night.

“The Ingham Sugar City Rodeo is one of Hinchinbrook’s premier events. Competitors travel from near and far to compete in this Australian Bushman’s Campcraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA) sanctioned event,” said Mr. Dametto.

“The Ingham Sugar City Rodeo Committee did an incredible job after rain sadly forced the cancellation of last year’s event. We all owe President, Josh Lannen, the rodeo committee and the many volunteers a big thank you for all they did to make this year a roaring success.

“This year marked my sixth Charity Bull Ride, and I’m always amazed at just how generous our community is. I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who came along to support and those who donated to the Charity Bull Ride. Fundraising events like this simply wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of others.

“So far, the GoFundMe page is up to around $5,500 and this year money will be donated directly to Ingham Palliative Care. I encourage anyone who hasn’t yet donated to do so before the GoFundMe page closes on Friday, 12 September 2025 at 5pm.”

Glenn Hall said it was a real privilege to be part of this year’s Charity Bull Ride in Ingham.

“The atmosphere was electric full of community spirit and generosity. What stood out most was how the whole town rallied together to support the event & donated to Ingham Palliative Care, which is such a vital service for local families,” Mr Hall said.

“Being involved meant a lot to me personally, knowing the funds raised go toward such an important cause that touches so many lives. My highlights were being part of that incredible atmosphere, meeting plenty of new faces, and sharing laughs and making memories with family and friends. A big thank you to everyone who supported the event your kindness and community spirit makes a real difference.”

Josh Lannen, Ingham Sugar City Rodeo President, stated the 2025 event was a huge success with good weather, no injuries to stock or riders and an excellent turn out.

“As of 6pm, the count was approximately 1,500 paid tickets through the gate which was one of the best turnouts for the rodeo,” said Mr. Lannen.

“An event highlight would be the Open Bull Ride towards the end and the Charity Bull Ride. We had a lot of people providing positive feedback and compliments about those events.

“Something worth noting was that the ABCRA judges were surprised with how many local juniors were called out.

“Looking ahead, the Committee knows we can run a fantastic event however we are very limited to seating at the Ingham Showgrounds.

“Next on the list, is working with State and Federal Governments to advocate for funding that is required for infrastructure upgrades to increase the sitting which would allow the event to grow.

“A big thank you must go to everyone that came and supported the event. We can’t afford to continue doing rodeos unless people show up to watch and support them.”
