Ingham tops for tourist

April 12, 2021

HINCHINBROOK MP Nick Dametto says he is “absolutely thrilled” Ingham has been named a finalist in the Queensland Top Tourism Town Awards.

Mr Dametto, who grew up in the Herbert River District, says the achievement was a testament to local residents for making the town a “welcoming and exciting environment for visitors to the region”.

“This is recognition of the many years of hard work put in by residents, businesses, the Chamber of Commerce and council in marketing Ingham as a must-see destination in the North that is the gateway to a host of attractions within the area,” Mr Dametto said.

“The ongoing Hinchinbrook Way campaign has helped drive that approach and it’s fantastic to be recognised by an organisation like the Queensland Tourism Industry Council.”

Mr Dametto said with the mild winter weather approaching, there was never a better time to visit Ingham and the wider District.

“From Wallaman Falls to the beaches and Hinchinbrook Island, we’ve got the best of the rainforest and the Reef” he said.

“Let’s keep getting that message out there and capitalise on this amazing opportunity.”
