President’s Message

August 31, 2018

3 weeks ago, KAP Senator Fraser Anning delivered his maiden speech in Canberra in which he raised the issue of Australia’s high immigration numbers and suggested a plebiscite, where Australians can vote on who is allowed to enter Australia.

Whilst most people in Australia welcomed the idea of everyone voting on Australia’s future, the LNP and Labor are still seething.

Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, has announced that she will be reviewing KAP’s resources (3 Parliamentary staff) at the request of LNP member for Warrego Ann Leahy, and the LNP leader Deb Frecklington.

This week Robbie Katter said, “Threatening to remove KAP resources because of a federal senator’s comments are a fundamental attack on freedom of speech and diversity of representation in the QLD Parliament.”

The politically-motivated denial of parliamentary resources for KAP is not only punishing the party, but all Regional Australia.  They are curbing free speech, shutting down the debate on immigration, and stretching our ability to be the unofficial opposition to the major parties.

Whilst KAP has only 3 elected members in Parliament, we have introduced 3 private members Bills this term already.  In comparison LNP have 39 elected members and are yet to introduce a single bill this year.

KAP is used to the major parties working together in order to threaten and intimidate us.  Unlike them, we are here to represent our constituents, so bring it on.  Let them play their party games while we get on with the job that we were elected by you to do.

If you too believe in free speech, a fair go and good regional representation, then join KAP in the fight by making a tax-deductible donation HERE

Only with your help can we keep up the good fight. Thank you for your generosity.

In the words of Henry David Thoreau, “A minority is powerless while it conforms to the majority.”
