Scrambling LNP adopts KAP policy – again!

October 17, 2024

The LNP have today acknowledged the KAP’s ‘Send ‘em Bush’ policy is the only way tackle youth crime, Katter’s Australian Party (KAP) Leader, and Member for Traeger, Robbie Katter has said.

“It’s flattering to have your homework from the last seven years copied,” Mr Katter said.

An attempt at KAP’s flagship crime solution, Send ‘em Bush, has been released as LNP policy today, agreeing that a circuit breaker bush camp is part of the answer to the out of control crime in North Queensland.

“I’m pleased that after seven years, the LNP have joined us in our quest to implement real solution s,” the KAP Leader said.

“Sending criminals bush to give them a reset is just what they need – it’s what we’ve been saying for seven years now.

“It has to be said though, that the LNP seem to be scrambling.

“They continually voted down all KAP’s crime bills for the last seven years, when we have been pushing this policy – it’s just so disappointing to see them use this as an election stunt now.

“Queenslanders have been screaming for this for years now – and the LNP choose now to listen.

“Where were the LNP seven years ago when we introduced this policy?

“We know that a Brisbane party will stuff up the roll out of our policy – they say ‘outside urban areas’ – this better not be in the Lockyer Valley!  Somewhere like Urandangi is where these camps need to be built!

“We could have worked with the LNP years ago on this - they have clearly sat on this policy.  It’s a shame, because it’s a clear sign of how they intend on governing,” Mr Katter said.
