“Who better to represent an electorate and a city under siege by crime than someone who served
as a prosecutor for Queensland Police for two decades, and who sees the legal system in action
every day?” Katter’s Australian Party (KAP) Leader Robbie Katter has said in Townsville, launching
Darryn Casson as the KAP’s Herbert candidate.
“Darryn has a proven history of standing up for what is right, and for the freedom of Australians,
and this makes his a fantastic fit for the KAP,” Mr Katter said.
In 2022 Mr Casson was denied his role at Queensland Police when he refused the COVID-19
vaccination.
Mr Casson said as well and fighting for the freedom of choice on important matters, he was
passionate about fighting for a better deal for Australians and North Queensland.
“There is so much that we can improve on, which will make a tangible difference for individuals,
business, and ultimately our country,” he said.
“Taxation, energy, housing, food security, the rights of the family, and the rights to defend your
home and feel safe, are all real opportunities for reform, and the KAP are the only ones I can see
having a real go a fixing our country – for the better.
“When I look at the news, I really can’t tell the difference between the major parties. Both support
killing our industries chasing a renewable fantasy, both supported forcing COVID-19 jabs on
Australians, and both seem all too happy to rely more and more on other countries to support us,
rather than investing enabling infrastructure and policy settings to drive supporting ourselves,” Mr
Casson said.
The KAP leader said Mr Casson was a staunch believer in the KAP’s key crime policies, including
Castle Law and Send ‘em Bush, and had the real experience to know that these will make a
difference.
“We know that Townsville, and much of North Queensland continues to be smashed by out-of-control
crime, and Herbert voters deserve a representative who has lived and breathed crime in
North Queensland for decades,” Mr Katter said.
Robbie Katter MP is the national Leader of the KAP, and Queensland State Member for
Traeger.
