President’s Message

January 11, 2019

The Federal Election could be called at any time between now and May 2019. Katter’s Australian Party is in full preparation mode to ensure that we are ready when the Election is announced.

We do still have final nominations open in a select number of electorates including;

  • Blair (Somerset to Ipswich)
  • Capricornia (Whitsundays to Rockhampton)
  • Flynn (Emerald to Bundaberg)
  • Groom (Toowoomba)
  • Hinkler (Bundaberg to Hervey Bay) and;
  • Wide Bay (Fraser Coast to Noosa)

Quality candidates are critical to our ability to stand up and fight for things that matter to you.
We are always interested to hear from people who would like to become a candidate or to hear suggestions of someone you think would make a great candidate.

Our candidates should be committed to KAP's core values and principles, and just as importantly, they should be passionate about creating change.

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, please obtain more information on becoming a candidate at https://kap.org.au/become-a-candidate/ . Alternatively, contact our friendly Head Office on 07 4401 5037 or admin@kap.org.au.  They’d be pleased to hear from you.

Lastly, this week we announced another candidate for the upcoming Federal Election -  Matthew Tomlinson, candidate for Wright.

A born and bred Beaudesert local, Matthew is the new face in the race for the future of Wright. From his farming upbringing and his work as a stockman, Matthew knows the struggles that everyday Australians face in the current economy and believes he can help deliver the necessary adjustments to ease those burdens.

Matthew will be campaigning for better infrastructure development in the Wright electorate, including a proper highway from Beaudesert to Brisbane, improving public transport available in the area and supporting more schools for the region. He will also be the voice for farmers in the electorate, who are under-represented and heavily restricted by bureaucracy and “Green-tape”.

 KAP welcomes Matthew to the team, and believes he is the Wright choice!

Our time is now.
