Words don’t build power lines! Clear direction and firm delivery deadlines do, the KAP Leader and Member for Traeger, Robbie Katter has said.
“It’s been 307 days since the Premier first stood in Parliament to announce the welcome funding allocation to CopperString, but there’s been nothing tangible since,” Mr Katter said.
“The Premier as usual gave a good answer in words, but none of it is backed by any action on the ground. He even publicly backed my call for Federal funding.
“But all we can see on the ground is a workers camp with no workers.
“Labor also tried to look like they were building, but the Premier and his Ministers have overseen nothing but bureaucratic pass-the-parcel in Brisbane offices,” the KAP leader said.
The Premier, at a Townsville press conference responded to a journalist’s question on if he supported Robbie Katter’s call for federal funding for CopperString “Oh year, of course.”
“If the Premier supports my call for Federal funding, where’s the request to the Federal Government?” Mr Katter asked.
“It’s fantastic that the Premier is on board with using Commonwealth money, Australian money, not just privatising an asset of national significance, but he and his ministers need to do more than talk.
“He needs to write to Canberra, and he needs to direct QIC to build the line all the way to Mount Isa. As he said himself in Parliament, “CopperString must go all the way to the west. The Western Link is absolutely essential,”
“Fantastic words, so let’s get on with it!
“$700 Billion of metals and critical minerals, communities champing at the bit for a piece of the promised action, and there’s nothing happening.
“How many days will it be before we see action on the ground? How much longer until the first tower is in the ground?
