Federal Govt. has a big mouth when it attacks China, but it has no stick

February 20, 2022

KENNEDY MP, Bob Katter, has lamented the fact that the Federal LNP Government continues to attack the imperialist, authoritarian Chinese dictatorship with a ‘big mouth’, but has no stick to defend itself with.

Mr Katter says while the LNP think they may be better than the ALP on issues relating to the Chinese Government, the people of Australia know that they have both done nothing to protect the nation and have only run their mouths.

In the latest escalation of tensions, a Chinese warship has been accused of putting Australian Defence Force lives in danger after a laser was shone at a maritime aircraft just north of Australia on Thursday.[1]

Mr Katter said the provocation was a result of the LNP Government shooting their mouths off, and that Australia had now lost sovereign control of its own waters between the mainland and Papua New Guinea.

“The LNP think they are going to win this election on China. Well, Australians will ask them, what did you do about the Port of Darwin? What did you do about China’s Global Switch who control Australia’s Defence Force data? What did you do about the Confucius Institutes and the Drew Pavlou affair? What did you do about fuel security?” Mr Katter said.

“In each of those cases the Government said it was going to do something and all it did was hold inquiries, and then like a gutless cowardly dog they ran away. So don’t have the hypocrisy of thinking you will win this election based on attacking China. You have no credibility at all.

“US President Theodore Roosevelt's foreign policy was ‘speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.’ The Australian Government must heed this message.”

Mr Katter is calling on the Federal Government to arm itself with a big stick by immediately starting domestic production of missiles, securing sovereign fuel supply and by training young boys and girls how to use a rifle through the cadets.

“I am calling on Australians to write to their local MP or their local candidate at the upcoming election and ask them how they will vote on these issues,” Mr Katter said.
