See what our Members of Parliament, Senator Fraser Anning, Honourable Bob Katter, Robbie Katter, Shane Knuth and Nick Dametto got up to this week.

Senator Fraser Anning, Senator for Queensland

  • Saturday 28th July
    Senator Anning spoke at a rally in support of persecuted white South Africans. The Rally was also attended by Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux.
  • He then led the group of chanting south Africans and Australians out of Hyde park towards government house.
  • Monday 30th July
    Travelled to Townsville then Charters Towers to attend the Charters Towers Show.
  • Tuesday 31st July
    Met with councillors from Flinders Shire Council. Discussed the impact of the new Vegetation Management Laws on their council.
  • Met with the Mayor of Richmond Shire Council, travelled to a cattle place just outside of Richmond to lend a hand to a grazier who was short on help. He helped draught, brand, tag and spay cattle.
  • Wednesday 1st August
    Discussed the development of an irrigation scheme diverting water from the Flinders and storing it. Scheme would put 10000 ha under irrigation and substantially help the region.
  • Travelled to Longreach.
  • Attended a range of meetings with key stakeholders in the Longreach region.
  • Conducted politics in the pub inviting the local community to come down the to the pub have a beer and discuss their issues or express any concerns.
  • Thursday 2nd August
    Travelled to Barcaldine.
  • Conducted a town hall meeting attended by a number of locals. Issues were raised in relation to the inequitable distribution of funds between regional and metropolitan areas. Water and the lack of basic utilities were also raised.

 

Robbie Katter, State Member for Traeger

  • Robbie attended the farewell morning tea for Sergeant Gina Scott on Tuesday, who was the Mount Isa PCYC Branch Manager. Robbie extended a huge thank you to Sgt Scott for her service.
  • He also attended MYUMA Graduation at Camooweal on Tuesday afternoon. This is part of the Spinifex Project, which is being run in part by the Dugalungi Aboriginal Corporation. It is having a big impact on the west on many levels.
  • On Wednesday Robbie presented to Mount Isa couple, Cherry and Mel Brosnan, a certificate and gift for their 50th wedding anniversary. This was an honour for him to do.
  • He spent a very busy day in Cloncurry on Thursday, meeting with local police, the Cloncurry Shire Council and other various community representatives.
  • On Friday Robbie flew himself to Hughenden to be on the ground for the Hughenden Irrigation Project Presentation.

 

Shane Knuth, State Member for Hill

  • Attended the Tully Show
  • Meeting with Cassowary Coast Mayor to discuss what is happening along the coast
  • Conducted meetings in the Hill Electorate Office
  • Represented as patron at the opening performance of Malanda Theatre Company’s Blithe Spirit

  • Attended Mission Beach Monster Markets and enjoyed talking to constituents and the local stalls. Met with Mission Beach Community Hub, and Mission Beach Lions Club
  • Spoke to media and the Cairns City Council in regards to the potential crocodile rezoning of areas in Babinda – This is after residents at a Babinda Chamber of Commerce meeting expressed concerns of the increased crocodile activities in their area. I contacted the Minister – in response their Government departments will investigate further with Cairns City Council
  • Constituent meetings in Innisfail
  • Attending the Mission Beach Arts Awards tonight as a proud sponsor
  • Met with Tully Rugby League officials and with Tully Touch Officials to discuss the Tully Grandstand and assisting sports within the region


Nick Dametto, State Member for Hinchinbrook

  • Attended a special NAIDOC Assembly at Ingham State High School on Wednesday morning before joining with members of the Australian Army Band Corps to celebrate 50 years of service that night in Townsville.
  • Raised several constituent issues with State Government ministers and Department officials at the estimates hearing for the Education, Employment and Small Business Committee in Brisbane on Thursday.
  • Attended NAIDOC celebrations at Abergowie College this morning and will attend tonight’s masquerade dinner as part of the upcoming Australian Italian Festival this weekend.
